BALPA Financial Solutions Limited is pleased to offer free to BALPA members and their partners, the following range of seminar, workshops and surgeries:

 Pre-Retirement Seminar
 Pension Drawdown Seminar

Our seminars are clear and jargon free, and there is no charge or obligation to do anything on the day. Our Advisers will be on hand to answer any queries you might have, and after the Seminar there is the opportunity to make an appointment with one of our Advisers, to visit you at home or meet at our offices, on a day convenient to you.

The following seminars are designed to help you understand the intricacies of the pension system, and plan your retirement with ease.

Pre-Retirement Seminar

Next available dates:  16th November 2010

Your retirement and pension may seem a long way off but it is vital to plan for it as early as you possibly can. You are therefore invited to attend well before you retire to give time for planning.

These seminars are held at BALPA House, 5 Heathrow Boulevard, 278 Bath Road, West Drayton, UB7 0DQ and run from 09.00 to approximately 17.00 and include a buffet lunch. For directions on how to find us click here.

The topics covered include:

• Pension Options at Retirement
• State Pensions
• Wealth Management
• Inheritance Tax Planning
• Retiring Overseas

In order to make best use of the information gleaned from the Seminar, members are advised to book a place on one of the seminars at least a year in advance of retirement, preferably two. This gives sufficient time to seek any necessary advice and take decisions, especially in respect of financial planning, without the need to be hasty.

Spaces are limited to give delegates the opportunity for questions & answers and will be offered on a first come first served basis. If demand is high, other dates may be arranged.

The speakers will be from BFS Ltd; Peter Gilbert, Roger Davies, John Parker together with guest speakers from Thomas Eggar LLP.

To reserve your place telephone Daisy Turner on 020 8476 4056 or email your request to bfs@balpa.org

Pension Drawdown Seminar

Next available dates:  30th September 2010 / 25th November 2010.

We are seeing an increasing number of members looking at the possibility of transferring their pension from the relative security of their final salary pension scheme into personal pension or stakeholder fund withdrawal schemes, at or near retirement. There are advantages in this, but there are also very real disadvantages. Whilst we offer a brief overview at the pre-retirement seminars, the purpose of this workshop is to give you a more in-depth view of the pros and cons of this course of action.

The topics covered include:

• Effect on tax free cash amounts
• Different amounts of pension that can be drawn
• Death benefits
• Inheritance Tax planning opportunities
• Critical yield calculation
• Investment strategies

If you think that fund withdrawal might be of interest to you, this will give you a good insight into the mechanisms involved. As it is run by BFS Ltd you will not be surprised that it will focus equally on the risks involved, rather than concentrating solely on the advantages.

These seminars are held at BALPA House, 5 Heathrow Boulevard, 278 Bath Road, West Drayton, UB7 0DQ. For directions on how to find us click here.

Spaces will be limited to give delegates the opportunity for some in depth questions and will be offered on a first come first served basis. Priority will be given to those who are within 12 months of retirement, but if demand is high, other dates will be arranged.

The speakers will be John Parker and Darren Williams, the pension specialists for BFS Ltd.

A buffet lunch will be provided at the end of the workshop.

To reserve your place telephone Daisy Turner on 020 8476 4056 or email your request to bfs@balpa.org
