Trainee Pilot Insurance
We offer two policies under this insurance, one which covers you for loss of Medical and one for Life cover and you can choose either cover, or both. We also offer cover that some other providers may not, such as cover if you have a restriction which means you cannot fly solo and complete your training and also cover if you suffer from illness that means you have to pay for remedial training to complete your course.
For loss of Medical there are two types of cover, one a lump sum which is so that you can get recompense for the money you have paid for training if you lose your medical and cannot continue with your flying career, and a monthly benefit if you medical is suspended temporarily, and this is designed to cover monthly expenditure on loan repayments, accommodation, or living expenses in connection with your training that you are contractually committed to pay at the time of the claim. You have a choice of benefit periods, 24, 36, 48, or 60 months, and you can choose how long you have to be sick before qualifying for benefit, from 60, 90, 180, or 365 days or 18 months.
The life cover is so that you can leave money to someone who will be out of pocket on your death, or a lender.
You are eligible to take out this cover if you are aged between 18 and 55 years of age.
On successful completion of training and on obtaining a job as a commercial pilot, the cover will be converted to our standard Flying Licence Policy without further medical evidence, although this will be required if you increase the sum insured.
Cover is provided through our wholly owned subsidiary, Flightcrew Risk Solutions PCC Limited, and there is a link to their web site, where you will find information all about them, a premium calculator, and an on-line application.
